070 Shake moves pretty far away from rap on several songs across "Glitter," her new EP released Friday. "Lost In Love" is a driving record that travels outside of the genre primarily through its high BPM drum programming, nodding to Jersey club in parts. However, when it comes to the vocals, Shake is still working with a lot of the same tools as rap-oriented songwriters like Starrah. She adjusts her delivery as the instrumental shifts around her, sometimes with a precise staccato and other times with a soaring with a pop confidence. Along with her frequent collaborators The Kompetition, Shake is unafraid to take chances, and Glitter feels very much like a sample pack of her various influences and interests. If she can continue to develop the many unique fusions of styles across the short project in the future, she has a long, fascinating career ahead of her.
It's the morning baby
I'm about to slide, no cha-cha
Your girl ain't passion, more like Prada
We don't do the potion
Man we always take a lot of it
