Another classic hip-hop act is coming to the big screen.
2 Live Crew is going to be getting the feature film treatment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Lionsgate and Temple Hill are partnering to develop The Book of Luke, telling the story of the hip-hop group that went from rags to riches in the late 1980's. The source material will be adapted into a screenplay by Craig Williams and will focus on 2 Live Crew manager Luther Campbell, who found himself on the wrong end of a copyright lawsuit related to 2 Live's music, which was known for its sexually explicit content.
Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey are producing for Temple Hill, a company that has previously partnered with Lionsgate on the Twilight franchise and, more recently, Power Rangers. Lionsgate will release the Tupac Shakur movie All Eyez on Me on June 16th.
