The Eagles had a shot to take the lead late in the game,
Coming into the NFC divisional round matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles, the defending champ Eagles were a huge underdog. They came in as a six seed while the Saints were the best team in football. Despite that, the Eagles had a chance to win the game late. The score was 20-14 in favor of the Saints and the Eagles were driving down the field for a touchdown. Although in heartbreaking fashion, wide receiver Alshon Jeffery dropped a pass which ended up in the hands of Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore. The play ended the game and took all hope away from the Eagles.
"That's on me. I'll take that loss. It's on me," Jeffery said after the game, according to ESPN. "I let my teammates down, the city of Philadelphia, that's on me. I'll take that."
Jeffery's dropped pass clearly affected him as he laid face first on the field for a few seconds before quarterback Nick Foles came to console him. Jeffery was also met with praise from his head coach Doug Pederson once he got to the sideline.
After the interception, the Saints ran the clock out and won the game. They now move onto the NFC Championship game where they will play the Los Angeles Rams.
