The Hip Hop community mourns the "Queen of Atlanta."
Christian Nilan, who is known by the moniker Speakerfoxxx, has died at the age of 35. The manager of the beloved Atlanta DJ and producer, Xen Lang, confirmed her passing this Sunday, December 23.
“I can say that she has indeed passed,” Lang said in a statement. “No one was more passionate about their craft, culture and city. It was a pleasure to know her, learn from her and work with her.”
"She was an inspiration to all, through her passion, her ongoing support for ATL music and underground culture. She touched many with her dedication, upbeat attitude, and excellent music taste."
The cause of Christan Nilan's death has yet to be revealed, though some of her following speculate about its source being connected to substance abuse. Back in August, the artist tweeted from a rehabilitation facility. “hi from rehab,” Nilan wrote. “new music currently being written so stayed tuned.”
Speakerfoxxx was known as a touring DJ for several years, assisting acts like Yelawolf, Rittz and Three 6 Mafia’s Gangsta Boo. Her work reached new levels as her solo career took off in 2011 with the release of her mixtape Dopeboy Anthems and its follow-up Dopegirl Anthems. The Hip Hop community of Atlanta has expressed that she will truly be missed within the city and beyond.
