During the short amount of time Big L was on the planet, he proved to be one of the hardest MC's in hip hop. His ferocity in his delivery blended with his witty punchlines and effortless storytelling abilities put him in his own league. Big L only put out one album before his death, Lifestyles Ov Da Poor & Dangerous but his manager released The Big Picture posthumously. Today, we bring out a track from the latter for this week's #TBT.
Big L's "Ebonics" was an immediate highlight off of The Big Picture. Big L pretty much gave everyone game on the code to the street with this track. He clearly broke down terms that are used in the streets at the time and brought them into his world in Harlem.
If you 730, that mean you crazy
"Hit me on the hip" means page me
Angel dust is sherm
If you got AIDS, you got the germ
If a chick gave you a disease, then you got burned
