The Philadelphia Eagles have had some big debates as of late surrounding their quarterback situation. Carson Wentz, the team's starter, had an incredible 2017 season until he went down with an injury. Nick Foles came in to replace Wentz that season and went on to win the Super Bowl. This season the same thing happened as Wentz went down with a back injury that has been lingering since his college days.

Wentz is now taking the time to comment on his situation and how he hopes to be back soon.

“I know I’ll be fine,” Wentz said Monday, via KYW Newsradio. “I know once I get healed and I do this the right way long term this should be fine and not come back. That’s the positive.”

With Wentz experience a few injuries over the last couple of years, the quarterback wants to make sure his ailments don't become a prevailing narrative in his career.

“Yeah, you know, I realize that’s other people’s opinions on things,” Wentz said. “I first and foremost am looking forward to hopefully putting that to rest over the next couple of years. But at the end of the day, you play this game, and you can’t control injuries. ... So I’m going to do everything I can to avoid those. My hope and goal is to just put those doubts to rest.”

“We decided [for me not to play] as we discovered exactly what it was, talking to the doctors,” Wentz continued. “I did my due diligence, got other opinions, [and decided] that it wasn’t the best idea to play. I wanted to be out there no doubt, but with the risk involved, and the way it was ultimately hindering me, was not worth it.”

The Philadelphia Eagles were recently eliminated from the postseason after a 20-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
