Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry aren’t the only players getting upgrades to their signature shoe for the NBA playoffs. The originator of the trend, LeBron James, is getting an “Elite” upgrade to his LeBron 13.

The Nike LeBron 13 Elite gets a completely redone upper, replacing the various different pieces that make up the Hyperposite with a full wrap of Kurim material. Kurim is a material with a fine latticework of polymers that allows for breathability while also providing sturdy, tough support. Notably, Under Armour will also use this material on the upcoming Curry 2.5.

The LeBron 13 Elite also adds a full length sock liner, an extended carbon fiber shank in the sole and two extra Zoom Air units in each shoe. All of this adds up for a faster, sturdier and more durable shoe for LeBron when he puts the team on his back in the NBA Playoffs.

The LeBron 13 Elite will release in a red colorway on April 14. We’ll have to wait on the white version until May 5, and the black version finally drops on May 26.
