"The training will become simplified ‘cause we only have to do boxing."
Although McGregor has taken a brief hiatus while he awaits the birth of his first child, Kavanagh says he has been training specifically for the boxing match against Floyd, which they believe will take place sometime before the year is over.
He explained how McGregor's training has been simplified now that he's preparing for a boxing match, rather than a bout in the octagon.
"Boxing is one of the 10 skills you need for mixed martial arts," he said. "But now we’re only doing boxing so we can drop wrestling and jiu-jitsu and Thai boxing. We can just focus on boxing. So of course we’re getting ready to fight arguably one of the best defensive boxers of all time, but the training will become simplified ‘cause we only have to do boxing, so it’s a new challenge I’m excited about."
Kavanagh also mentioned that contract negotiations are currently taking place regarding the weight of the fight and noted that 147 lbs is currently being "thrown around."
