Patrick, Rodgers celebrate record-breaking deal with Armand De Brignac Brut Gold champagne.
Yesterday afternoon the Green Bay Packers and franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers agreed to terms on a four-year, $134 million contract extension, which includes a record $57.5 million signing bonus and nearly $103 million in guarantees. The deal makes Rodgers, 34, the highest paid player in the game and he'll earn more than $80 million by March, which works out to roughly $400,000 per day over the next 200 days, according to ESPN's Darren Rovell.
In celebration of Rodgers' record-breaking contract extension, he and his girlfriend Danica Patrick popped a bottle of Armand De Brignac Brut Gold champagne engraved with “Aaron Rodgers — Green Bay Packers," as seen on Patrick's IG story.
“It’s been an amazing ride the last 13 years; excited to start year 14 knowing that my future is here, in Green Bay, for our 100th season,” Rodgers wrote Wednesday on Instagram. “I’ve grown up in this place, and grown older and a little wiser along the way.
“Thank you to our incredible fan base for inspiring us players to be better year after year. Thank you to the Packers organization for standing by me time and time again and giving me the opportunity to lead this football team. And thank you to my teammates along the way, past and present who have impacted my life in so many positive ways, giving me friendships for life. Looking forward to making some more memorable moments this year, and for years to come….”
Green Bay will open up the 2018-19 season at home against the division rival Chicago Bears in a nationally televised game on Sunday, September 9. That game, airing on NBC, is scheduled to kickoff at 8:20pm ET.
