WWE superstar turned actor Dave Bautista could be returning to the ring in April for the promotion's annual "Show of Shows," Wrestlemania.

According to a report by Slice Wrestling (H/T Cageside Seats), WWE is reportedly in talks with Bautista for a "major match" at Wrestlemania 35.

Bautista, who goes by Batista in the ring, had previously been rumored for a match against Triple H at Wrestlemania 35, but the latter suffered a torn pectoral muscle during WWE's Crown Jewel event in November and he may not be able to compete.

The two superstars laid the groundwork for a potential showdown in October when Batista returned to the WWE for the first time in four years as part of the promotion's celebration of SmackDown 1000. During an in-ring segment, Batista thanked the fans and his former Evolution teammates, Randy Orton and Ric Flair, before taking a jab at Triple H.

“This man has single-handedly changed this business. He runs this business. This man is this business.

14-time World Champion. There is nothing, nothing that this man hasn’t done in this business…. Except beat me.”

A stare down ensued, as seen in the video embedded below, sparking rumors of a Wrestlemania bout.

It remains to be seen who Batista might challenge in his return to the ring, but the rumors will only grow louder as we approach The Road to Wrestlemania following the Royal Rumble PPV on January 27.
