What happens if you're Drake and you scored a No. 1 album earlier this year? Apparently, you don't submit that very successful piece of work for Grammy award consideration.

According to the Associated Press, the rapper's More Life album won't be an album a playlist that earns him more hardware for his trophy case (although he probably has more than one at this point), because he didn't submit it for consideration at the 2018 edition of the awards show. Sources that are close to the process, have confirmed that the emcee did not submit the playlist for consideration in any of the album categories, nor are any of the singles being submitted for song categories.

More Life dropped in March of this year and, unsurprisingly, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The release has alreayd sold more than 2 million copies and tracks like “Fake Love,” ″Passionfruit” and “Portland" were all Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. There's no word from Drake's camp or his label as to why this decision was made, but it seems odd, considering how many nominations he scored for Views, which was a similarly successful collection of music.

The 2018 Grammy nominations are not allowed to be made public until November 28th, but the Rap Album category is sure to be a crowded field. Even without the presence of the Six God, names like Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Migos, DJ Khaled, J. Cole and others could all be vying for the award. Drizzy has taken home three Grammy wins thus far in his career, scoring Best Rap Album for 2011′s Take Care, as well as two awards (Best Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Song) for "Hotline Bling." He's been nominated 35 times. The 2018 Grammys will be the 60th edition of the biggest awards night in music. The action will unfold at Madison Square Garden in New York on January 28th.

To be considered for a Grammy, songs and albums that are considered must be released between October 1st, 2016 and September 30th, 2017 in order to be eligible.
