Zaire following in Gabrielle Union's footsteps?
Dwyane Wade's oldest son Zaire is expected to receive several offers from colleges across the country this Summer, not only because of who is father is but because the 6'2 point guard is among the top 2020 prospects. Among the schools looking to recruit Z-Wade is the Big 10's Nebraska Cornhuskers, who reportedly extended a scholarship offer on Tuesday, according to Stock Risers' Jake Weingarten.
Zaire, entering his junior year at American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida also visited with Michigan State earlier this year, according to Youth1, but it is believed Nebraska is the first school to offer a scholarship. Nebraska certainly isn't the sexiest destination for an up and coming basketball prospect, but Zaire Wade does have some connection to the University, as his stepmother Gabrielle Union was born in Omaha and briefly attended the school as a soccer player before transferring.
Last season, Nebraska finished with a 22-10 record, including 13-5 in the Big 10 Conference, but failed to make the NCAA Tournament. The Cornhuskers were a #5 seed in the NIT tournament, where they lost in the first round to Mississippi State. The Cornhuskers are projected to finish near the top of the conference in the upcoming 2019 season.
