Has anyone had this many cameos?
As you've probably heard, Stan Lee passed away yesterday at the age of 95 after struggling with pneumonia. After 95 years most people would hope to have a legacy to leave behind and Stan Lee has one of the biggest out there. As the creator of Spider-Man, The Hulk, Black Panther and more, he gave us superheroes as we know them today and, perhaps more importantly these days, he gave us the modern superhero movie. He was, at different times, the editor-in-chief, publisher and chairman of Marvel and was one of the people who brought it from just a comic book press to the multimedia giant it is today.
Towards the end of his life, when the characters he created were being adapted into huge blockbuster movies and he was slowing down his day job, he took on another side gig: playing himself in Marvel movies. It was always a pleasure, as a kid, to watch closely for the moment he would pop up on screen: in the more obvious moments like in The Incredible Hulk where he dies drinking a soda or in the more subtle cameos, like in the first two Iron Man movies where he's mistaken for both Hugh Hefner and Larry King by Tony Stark.
Lucky for us, the New York Daily News has put together a supercut of every single Stan Lee cameo, from 1989 to the present:
