He's joined a team that makes millions a year.
Kyle "Mongraal" Jackson is only 13 years old, yet he now has a million dollar career. Mongraal was recently signed to the lucrative eSports squad Team Secret to play Fortnite. Players on that squad took home millions upon millions of dollars last year. Team leader KuroKy sat atop the list of highest-earning eSports players in the world with just under 3.5 million dollars in earnings, and he isn't the only Team Secret player on the lucrative list.
According to ESPN, Team Secret CEO John Yao didn't know that Mongraal was so young when he recruited him. His skill spoke for itself. Currently, Fortnite doesn't even have an official presence in the eSports world, but Team Secret built a team for what they think will be an inevitable entry into the sports world. "Our guess is that Epic Games [publisher of Fortnite] is also going to announce something and get behind the eSports scene," Yao told ESPN. "And so, before everybody else jumps in and all the good players get signed up, we wanted to make a preemptive strike."
"When a game gets popular enough, generally everybody tries to get into eSports, because they want to legitimize the game's competitive nature," continued Yao. "And Fortnite is competitive, and I think there's a lot of room for it to be established on the scene."
