Yesterday, we reported that G-Eazy was on the verge of dropping a new single with A$AP Rocky and Cardi B joining him as features. As it turns out, that single was made available sooner than expected, coming in the form of the hot new banger "No Limit." With an energetic trap beat providing a bouncy backbone for all three emcees, Eazy enlists two of August's hottest hip-hop artists to craft a tight, radio-ready track.
G-Eazy's vibe is typically authoritative, with a brooding sense of control that permeates his bar spitting throughout the track. A$AP Rocky rolls up and does his thing as well, sound reinvigorated after a stellar August Awgust that saw him play an integral role on the new A$AP Mob album Cozy Tapes Vol. 2. However, even with these two strong performances in the fold, I continue to be impressed by Cardi B. Her flow feels effortless and her tone is sharp and on-point during her verse, gifting us with another strong turn on this record. It should help cement her place as perhaps the best female emcee working today. Coupled with the success of "Bodak Yellow," her recent success does remind me a lot of Nicki Minaj's early career, but perhaps without all the silliness attached to her lyrics. This is a woman who is focused and primed to take control of the hip-hop game for a minute yet.
As for Gerald, his strong week continues after receiving accolades at the BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards, where "Me, Myself & I" walked away with the honor for R&B/Hip-Hop Song of the Year. Other honorees that night included DJ Khaled, Rihanna, Future, Metro Boomin' and Universal Music Group, who were named as R&B/Hip-Hop Publisher of the Year. It's just another step for G-Eazy on his way to full-blown superstar status, after showing glimpses of urban crossover staying power with an appearance on the most recent Fast & The Furious soundtrack.
No limit I’m a f**king soldier, yeah
Always lit, yeah I’m never sober
It’s been three days in a row, your bitch coming over
Told that bitch to kick rock, she act like it’s a boulder
