"Luther is still the character we love to hate."
Idris Elba has been having a big year. He was cast in The Fast & Furious spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, then he was named People's "Sexiest Man Alive" and, to put cherry on top, he was immortalized in a horrifying and expensive doll. Now, he's reprising his most iconic role in the British murder mystery Luther. He plays the eponymous character, Luther, a character who fans of the show "love to hate," according to Elba. The show ran for three full seasons and a brief fourth one, ending in 2015. Now it's back for four episodes and according to Elba, "it's not the end" for the show.
Luther spoke to Metro about the new season:
All I can say is we know how long the fanbase wait for the show, and we’re never taking that lightly. So as much as we have to keep one eye on how do we not do what we’ve done before, at the same time saying to the audience ‘this is Luther,' so you recognize the traits. ... I’m very excited about the season, it feels very similar to what we’ve seen but it takes a few turns. Luther is still the character we love to hate.
