Lil Wayne's anticipated "Carter V" may finally be upon us, but we've been hurt before.
The moment of reckoning is nearly upon us. Maybe. Fans already have their calendars marked for Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V, which may or may not be dropping at midnight. While an official source has yet to confirm such news as facts, speculation about an imminent drop has reached damn near feverish heights. Tha Carter V has been ablaze on Twitter, with many having come to accept the midnight drop as factual, despite never receiving word from Weezy himself. Still, surprises are often the way, and this year has already shown several prominent rappers opting for last-minute release windows.
True, there are signs pointing to a midnight drop. Floyd Mayweather cryptically alluded to a September 21st release. Young Money shared a potential album cover on Twitter. Fans have taken to peddling a tracklist that may or may not be authentic, with features from Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Justin Timberlake, Mannie Fresh and more. Reality and fiction have begun to blur, yet fans have proven optimistic, despite previous Carter V related hardships. Could the project really be arriving in a matter of hours? After the long, arduous, Birdman and Martin Shkreli lined road?
We can only hope.
