The Losers' Club is growing up.
In Stephen King’s horror novel about the inter-dimensional shape-shifting killer creature called IT, The Losers' Club battles the killer clown as kids. Later in the novel, they return to defeat Pennywise for good as adults. Chapter one of the IT movie followed The Losers' Club as children, and the sequel is set to follow the book, and display the grown-up children returning to their hometown after leaving. As pre-production for the sequel draws closer, the film's cast is finally being put together.
According to Variety, Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, Interstellar) locked down the role of Beverly earlier this year, and now James McAvoy and Bill Hader are in talks to star as Bill and Richie, respectively. McAvoy has showcased his skill as both an ultimate hero (Professor X in the latest X-Men films) and a crazed villain (Split), so it will be interesting to see what he brings to the table for IT: Chapter 2. Bill Hader (Knocked Up, Sausage Party) will undoubtedly provide some comic relief in the film while Chastain will employ a combination of her intense acting skills and her seductive good looks to lead what will be an all-star cast.
Andy Muschietti returns to direct the film while Gary Dauberman is still working on the script. IT: Chapter 2 is slated to hit theaters on September 6, 2019.
