Jessie Reyez returns with "Body Count" video.
A few weeks ago, Jessie Reyez dropped off the assertive “Body Count,” tackling the double standard-drenched topic of sexual freedom. Now, drawing poignant inspiration from the Salem Witch Trials in which those accused of witchcraft were executed without much of a due process during the late 1600s in the United States, Reyez has rolled through with the Peter Huang-directed clip for her empowering track.
“In short, you’re going to get judged anyway, so as long as you’re not hurting anyone and loving yourself, might as well do whatever you want,” the Canadian songstress says of the track and video. “Whether that’s being celibate or being sexually free is your choice. Your body count is nobody’s business but your own.”
