The singer's "Crown" comes from a place of self-love and inspiration.
Kelly Rowland dropped her latest loosie today. The self-love anthem is entitled "Crown" and produced in association with Dove. The song as well as it's accompanying video is meant to inspire girls to appreciate their unicity and empower themselves with that knowledge of self-worth. Rowland also took to social media to spread this message. The singer opted for a more personal approach, sharing a childhood picture and an uplifting message.
"My Dearest Kelly," she wrote. "Let me start by saying what a smart young lady you are, you were born a Queen! And even though the world doesn’t show you enough beautiful images of yourself, you are one of a kind, and don’t let ANYONE tell you different.
"I wrote a song for you, about your 'Crowning Glory!' I hope you like it! I know you don’t hear it much, how 'Beautiful Your hair is', your unique and various textures and colors, that make you UNIQUE and SPECIAL," she continued. "Just know, no one wears your CROWN like you Baby Girl! And you don’t have to look like ANYONE ELSE!"
The open letter concludes with an encouragement to spread the love: "P.S. Now go and tell every girl you know the same, she needs to hear it!"
Rowland is in the process of rolling out her upcoming album. Read more about the project here.
