Kodak Black is poised for a solid debut on the Billboard 200.
Last Friday, we were met with a sense of confusion after Offset's album didn't appear on our go-to streaming services. While Kodak Black's Dying To Live was never meant as a consolation prize, the non-appearance of Set's project gave ample time to fans who wanted to check out Kodak's sophomore effort. It shouldn't come as a surprise that Dying To Live was one of the most successful debuts from last week. It's gotten rave reviews so far as people continue to dive into the work. In fact, the first-week numbers for Kodak may even be enough to get the Florida rapper his first-ever No. 1 album on the Billboard charts.
This has been a year to remember for Kodak as "ZEZE" has gained him major points among the mainstream crowd. His music has always been popular in Florida's underground but 2018 saw the artist rise to new heights. The new album has already received a glowing endorsement from Drake and it looks as though the rest of the country has embraced it with open arms. According to Hits Daily Double, Kodak Black will have the highest-charting debut of the week as he's expected to sell more than the Spider-Man soundtrack and Zayn's new release. With up to 70K equivalent album units projected to move in its first week, Dying To Live has a real shot at taking the top spot on the Billboard 200. Of course, he faces competition in Meek Mill's Championships, which is still selling in high numbers.
What did you think of the new album? Do you think it'll take the No. 1 spot?
