Lil Uzi Vert gets himself some plaques.
Lil Uzi Vert's stellar 2017 just got even more incredible.
During a calendar year that has already seen the young Philly native drop the monster single "XO Tour Llif3" and his follow-up LP, the hugely successful Luv Is Rage 2, it's only fitting that Uzi would start to see some hardware come his way, based on the current popularity of his music. Over the past week, the rapper has hit two more major music milestones courtesy of the RIAA. First off, Luv is Rage 2 received a Gold certification from the organization, crossing the 500,000 sales plus streaming unit threshold less than two months after being released on August 25th. The album has been boosted by the inclusion of songs like "Sauce It Up" and "The Way Life Goes" on popular streaming playlists on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, as well as through the support of a fan base that Lil Uzi Vert continues to grow with his high-energy live shows.
Secondly, and perhaps even more impressively, "XO Tour Llif3" was certified 4x Platinum yesterday (October 17th) by the RIAA, meaning that it has moved more than 4 million sales plus streaming units in the short time that it has been available to the music listening public. This new plaque, combined with his other Platinum-level distinctions that have been bestowed on him this year, combine for no less than 11 certifications of that level in 2017 alone. It's quite a haul for an emcee who, in some people's eyes, may still be on the come-up but, considering his work on a track like "Bad and Boujee," the runaway club hit from the Migos, that's a theory that is fast fading into the background.
The big question on many people's minds is what's next for Lil Uzi Vert? The answer, as of now, isn't a clear one, but there are indications that some new music could be on the way from the talented artist. He previewed a new song on social media for his fans not long ago, giving some credence to the rumor that he has some new material that will be ready to drop soon.
