Watch Logic's emotional performance alongside Alessia Cara and Khalid.
In a string of live appearances on the MTV Video Music Awards' stage, rapper Logic came up for a moving performance of his single "1-800-273-8255" alongside singers Alessia Cara and Khalid.
In partnership with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, a service that provides free and confidential support and counseling for those experiencing a suicidal crisis or emotional distress, Logic brought fifty suicide attempt and loss survivors into Los Angeles' Forum during his performance as they all donned shirts that read, "You Are Not Alone."
It was just last week that the trio released the music video that included cameos from the likes of Don Cheadle, Matthew Modine, Nathan Gould, Coy Stewart, Luis Guizman, Mickaëlle X. Bizet and Bonnie Burroughs. Accomplishing a feat of 10 million views in a week, the visual depicts the hardships of a young gay man struggling to find a sense of identity.
All three performers were also up for various nominations, and all walked away with a Moon Person Sunday night (August 25).
While Khalid won his nomination for the fan-picked Best New Artist, Alessia Cara nabbed the award for Best Dance Video for her collaboration with Zedd in the form of "Stay."
Cara and Logic both gained trophies for their nominations in the category for Best Fight Against The System for the visuals to "Scars To Your Beautiful," and "Black Spiderman," respectively, as everyone in the category was granted the title of winner in a special presentation led by Susan Bro, the mother of Heather Heyer, the women who tragically lost her life in a vicious attack in which a car rammed into a group of counterprotestors at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia earlier this month.
"Only 15 days ago my daughter was killed as she protested racism," said Bro. "I miss her but I know she’s here tonight. I’ve been deeply moved to see people across the world...find inspiration in her courage."
