Maroon 5 is getting ready to release a new album next month called Red Pill Blues, and today have a new offering off it. Looking to duplicate the success of his last single “What Lovers Do” with SZA, Adam Levine decides to come through today and share some “Whiskey” with Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky. “Not going to stop a good thing," Maroon 5 tweeted Wednesday (Oct. 18), before adding “One more for good measure.”
Over the piano-driven production, Adam Levine delivers a tipsy radio-ready single that finds him crooning & reflecting on a past relationship. "Would've waited a thousand nights, If she never said goodbye/ I admit that I, Would've sold my soul for a little more time,” Adam sings. Whereas Flacko comes in for the last verse, spitting some alcohol-inspired bars about his own romantic recollections. “All of that tequila’s a killa,” Rocky raps. “A little vodka break her off something proper / Pop a cork and play spin the bottle every time you kiss me.”
Highlighted by its slow burning production & somber vocals, “Whiskey” is another strong addition to Adam’s growing catalogue of hits, and all the more reason to look forward to Red Pill Blues to arrive on November 3rd. Other features on the album will include Kendrick Lamar, Gucci Mane, SZA & more. Pre-order the album right here if you wish, and receive other songs like “Cold,” “Don't Wanna Know” & “Help Me Out” as free instant downloads.
Produced by John Ryan & Jacob Kasher, take a listen to the new offering and let us know what you think! Does Adam have himself a new radio hit or nah?
I ain't like the other Cognacs
Or the type of cat that'd never call back
Or lose contact when you runnin' out of rum and you make a run
(Feelin' light and dizzy, make me tipsy)
All that tequila is a killer, little vodka break or something proper
Pop a cork and play spin the bottle
(Every time you kiss it, like some whiskey)
