According to Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders, Houdini was targeted by the perpetrator in the shooting. The unidentified suspect was reported to have "deliberately" waited in his vehicle for 40 minutes until Houdini showed up, at which point he exited the vehicle, fired a gun, and left the scene. A 15-year-old boy and 27-year-old woman were also injured in the shooting, although they are expected to make full recoveries.
