Following the untimely passing of Chester Bennington, the future was unclear for the remaining members of Linkin Park as they all grieved the loss of their friend and former frontman. The band's co-founder Mike Shinoda is no stranger to delving into the world of hip-hop, embarking on a side project during his time with Linkin Park to form Fort Minor, dropping memorable singles like "Remember the Name." Releasing the Post Traumatic EP early this year, the rapper is gearing up to extend the project to a full studio-length album of the same title.
Dropping off one of the singles from the upcoming project today in "About You," Mike works with Blackbear to create a track that takes advantage of several genres including hip-hop, rock and electronic music. Accompanied by a music video, "About You" is available on all major streaming services and will be part of Shinoda's upcoming album on June 15.
Even when there's no connection back to you in any line
All of a sudden it's about you and it gets me every time but
What the fuck is left to author anyway?
When I basically been writin' since the Raiders ran LA
I'm afraid that maybe I've said everything there is to say
Maybe I should make an exit while there're ways to get away
