Mira says he made the beat from scratch.
Last week, we reported that Juice WRLD and his producer Nick Mira were being sued over allegedly stealing the beat for Juice WRLD's song "Lean With Me," which can be found on his debut album Goodbye & Good Riddance. According to the report, a Colorado teenager by the name of Jerome Willisch who raps under the name Fly Jxy, filed the lawsuit in partnership with his parents. For Willisch, the rock-inspired beat from "Lean With Me" is a rip-off of his song "Icy."
Mira is now coming out to shoot down those claims that the beat was stolen, taking to Twitter saying "Lean Wit Me was recorded from scratch by myself and only me. I played all the guitar myself and recorded the drums."
This isn't the first time Juice WRLD and Mira have been embroiled in a beat controversy. The Chicago artist's break out hit "Lucid Dreams" is an interpolation of Sting's "Shape Of My Heart," which led to Sting and his team taking many of the profits of the song. Although, Sting has been on record saying he enjoys the track.
Juice WRLD also took to Twitter to defend himself and his producer. There have been no updates as far as the lawsuit as concerned but stay tuned for updates as they become available.
