Noname Gypsy probably sounds familiar if you’ve listened to any of Chance the Rapper’s releases from the past few years. The Chicago native keeps it pretty low key (hence the name), but her unique voice and rhyming ability make her immediately recognizable on a track.
SPZRKT sing a soulful hook, while the fantastically wavy beat was produced by a trio of Chicago producers in Saba, THEM PEOPLE and Phoelix. Noname Gypsy casually murders the track, rapping about her personal qualities and how people try to change her into something else.
The track is from her upcoming album Telefone, which has passed a few of its release dates but hopefully this song's release is a sign of more.
Unorthodox paradox in a pair of docks
with an overbite, oversight to a merry cluck
happy go lucky was a time, you and I
happy go lucky was a time, do or die
