Rapsody follows up in her last album, "Laila’s Wisdom."
Rapsody's Grammy-nominated album Laila’s Wisdom was one of the better album releases of the end of 2017. Today the 35-year-old North Carolina rapper has followed up on her tape with a new video for the 4th single on the project titled "Pay Up."
Although the song talks about people choosing materialistic items over love, the video sees a lit house party and Rapsody having all kinds of fun. There is a part of the video that sees a man buy his girl flowers but she doesn't seem too pleased because she asks him for money and shoes instead.
Rapsody was the only woman to be nominated for the Best Rap Album of the year and lost the award to Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. She has cited Kendrick as one of her biggest influences in the past. "The honesty in his music, he has no fear and he's himself. He doesn't chase anything, but what he sees in the mirror, I think that's what makes him special," she said of the Compton rapper.
