Dawson makes a great point about society.
Rosario Dawson isn't a fan of how children interact with social media in today's society. The gorgeous and talented actress recently sat down for an interview with Laverne Cox during the Tribeca TV Festival on Saturday, and revealed that she doesn't let her daughter use a cell phone. Dawson's daughter Lola is fifteen years old, but her mother fears that warped standards will affect her child's self-worth.
âI think itâs really critically important as the adult in these kidsâ lives to make sure theyâre not going down dark alleys without some kind of information and help ⦠and to get likes according to little posts youâve made and then thinking that thatâs what your value is can be quite dangerous,â stated Dawson. âThey can present themselves online as opposed to develop themselves online. Thatâs a really different thing. We didnât grow up looking in the mirror all the time. We just didnât. We didnât look at ourselves all day long and this is what these kids are doing.â
âNow these kids are wanting to get plastic surgeries so they can look like what they look like when they have a filter on,â she continued. âTheyâre getting body dysmorphia looking at their own image thatâs been doctored, and then when they look in the mirror, theyâre horrified by a freckle or a pimple.â Truth be told, I'm not even sure what the majority of my online friends look like without a filter.
