Veteran DJ/producer House Shoes, who also happens to be Detroit's Hip-Hop Ambassador To The World, is currently hosting a J Dilla remix challenge, inviting participants to flip the late producer's "Electric Piano Solo" interlude, from his 1997 EP Unreleased.
Emerging New Jersey producer Thelonious Martin, AKA King Thelonious, is one of many who've risen to the challenge, putting his spin on the cut and renaming it "Jay Dee Rhodes" (for those unaware, "Jay Dee" was one of Dilla's multiple aliases). Listen to the original below and let us know how they compare, folks.
The contest ends tomorrow. If you're interested in participating, you can read up on how to do so here.
Thelonious' new Wünderkid project is coming soon, so stay tuned for the roll-out, and keep up with him via Twitter in the meantime: @KingThelonius.
