It's Thursday, which means it's time to revisit the past. In the wake of dominating headlines over his comments on Wendy Williams, it seems fitting to look back on the excellent catalog of Tip Harris. Before T.I. & Lil Wayne embarked on the 2103 "America's Most Wanted" tour, the pair teamed up to deliver the crazy promotional single "Wit Me." The Cordale "Lil' C" Quinn produced track came equipped with a high budget video, which found Tip & Weezy posted up by the water, cruising on a motorboat, and closing out the night in the strip club. The dynamic between the two rappers was on point, with both artists kicking double time flows and clever lyricism in abundance.
While there is still plenty of excellent music dropping in 2017, it somewhat feels as if we've strayed away from this type of track. Tip and Weezy were two of the biggest rappers in the world, and they still managed to team up for a little bit of friendly, lyrical competition. Today, there are fewer tracks that find two hip-hop heavyweights hopping onto an instrumental and going in. And not just sixteens, neither. "Wit Me" is over five minutes long, and both rappers seem to be going all in. It's honestly refreshing, and it sort of makes you miss that era, doesn't it?
After hearing him murder instrumentals again and again, it's kind of shocking how seldom T.I. gets mentioned in any top rapper debates. His flow is crazy, his swagger is on point, and his lyrics are top notch. Plus, dude has a deep discography, and countless commercially successful bangers. These days, his statements tend to make a bigger splash than his music, and it's kind of sad to see people so eager to hate on TIP in 2017. Perhaps one of the game's most underrated. Do ya'll agree, or nah?
Do yourself a favor and bump this banger while the weather's still warm.
I’m cold! Don't believe me, just ask yo bitch I swear she know her legs up high
She spread eagle and then took in my big ego
I’m stupid, ask Tunechi and them
Let me tell you a little something bout me
I talk shit, bread like Muhammad Ali
Then, whoop a n*gga ass like Muhammad Ali
I’m throwed, no catchin' me
