Cunningham was gunned down near a high school.
T.J. Cunningham was a defensive back that was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 1996 and played at the University of Colorado in the early 90s. The 46-year-old former NFLer was shot and murdered on Sunday, in a dispute that involved a parking spot, according to TMZ. The police report states that the alleged murder suspect is his neighbor, 31-year-old Marcus Johnson. Both had been fighting over a parking spot and had agreed to meet up at the local Eaglecrest High School to settle their differences. Johnson ended up bringing a gun with him and shot Cunningham multiple times who eventually died from his wounds.
As TMZ reported, Johnson has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder, while the alleged gun used has been found and is now being used as evidence in the case. There are no other details about the case as of right now.
Making this even sadder is the fact that Cunningham is survived by his five children and his wife. A GoFundMe page was set up to help the family with any memorial costs. Since retiring from the NFL after a career-ending knee injury, Cunningham became an Assistant Principal at a high school and was an active member of the community.
