Trevor Jackson’s growth is well-documented in the public eye, from touring as Young Simba on Broadway’s Lion King to starring in the critically-acclaimed “grown-ish” television series, all while cultivating a solid music career on the side. Now, the 21-year old multi-hyphenate has unleashed his latest musical outing in the form of his Rough Drafts, Pt. 1 LP.
“It’s called Rough Drafts because I feel like, especially in [this] day and age, everybody is trying to be perfect,” he recently told Rap-Up of the self-written project. “They’re trying to emulate something on social media. Everybody wants the finished product. They see other people doing well and want to skip a few steps […] If you go to college, you can’t get the final draft first,” he continues. “You’ve got to do a couple of rough drafts, revise it […] I’m just trying to show people that it’s OK to be at peace within the steps getting there, to wherever you’re trying to get.”
Lend your ear to the full effort and let us know how you’re feeling about it.
