Wifisfuneral invites us into his grandmother's home for an exclusive and informative interview.

Wifisfuneral has been quietly making waves as one of Florida's most promising up-and-comers. His latest mixtape, Boy Who Cried Wolf, has been steady collecting plays on Soundcloud, and his blend of new-wave, distorted hip-hop and old-soul lyricism has solidified him as one to watch. We recently kicked it with Wifisfuneral for a day, talking hip-hop, his influences, and his come-up. Best of all, we had the pleasure of joining the young rapper for a home-cooked meal, courtesy of Wifi's grandmother at her apartment in The Bronx.

The first thing to know about Wifi is that he respects the art of hip-hop, discussing his influence with a clear respect for the craft. "The sounds that Three 6 Mafia as a whole provided for the world...Nobody paid attention to that," reflects Wifi, musing on the benefit of hindsight. "They got their own fucking genre of rap, bruh...People didn't recognize that." It's evident that Wifi feels strongly about the new generation of artists, especially those from his native Florida. While he was quick to pay homage to some of the local legends like Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, and Plies, Wifi makes it clear that the new wave is building off the foundation they laid down.

When we arrive, Wifi introduces us to his squad, including his girl, his homie slash fellow rapper Cris Dinero, and his "A&R" Valentino. It has the feel of a grassroots movement, built off a passion for the arts and a dream of making it big. The tour continues as Wifi shows us his grandmother's room, sharing childhood anecdotes of jumping on the bed, before taking us into the living room where all the arts and crafts sessions went down. It's a different side of the rapper, an honest and endearing side that many fans should enjoy seeing. Check out the video in full, and be sure to support Wifi's latest tape, Boy Who Cried Wolf.
