The young rapper gets vulnerable on the track.
While recovering from the violent robbery and assault against him earlier this year, YBN Almighty Jay penned new music and filmed a video for his single, "God Save Me." On the track, the 19-year-old rapper is vulnerable with his audience about his life, giving listeners a peek into his background. He talks about almost joining the Navy, being a teen father, and he confronts people by asking, "If I didn't f**k with that famous b**h would you wanna chat with me?" An obvious nod to his rumored brief relationship with Blac Chyna.
Just weeks ago, Jay talked about the attack that left him with 300 stitches in his face. "I ain't gon' lie I was laughing about it," he said. "It's like what do we do? We don't do nothing and we act weak and like, 'you took an L, you got your ass beat.' Or, I'm like f**k it this how I get paid," he continued. "I'm about to drop a song with the stitches in my face because everybody want to see them. I made the choice to shoot the video. That wasn't my manager -- nothing. It's not like I was crying about it."
