Last night, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie came through to revisit his last album Artist 2.0, giving it a considerable makeover with a solid Deluxe Edition. Though the tactic of doubling-up has begun to feel like a clear means of boosting streams, every so often it can lead to a banger or two that might otherwise have remained tucked away in the vault. In A Boogie's case, there are some clear highlights to be found, including the epically titled and nursery-rhyme-esque "7 Mac 11's."
Taking to a slick instrumental from S. Dot, who lays the foundation with an airy synth loop, A Boogie showcases the depth of his range. "I'm pullin' up with seven MAC-11s," he raps, leaving us wondering how he's managing such an octopussian feat to begin with. "Hop out the double-R, Louis V steppin' / put a beam on every single weapon, send me the addy and I'ma address it." From there onward, he proceeds to outline the extent of his menace, making it abundantly clear that crossing him must be one at one's own peril. "Runnin' through bodies like Mad Max," he warns. "Hoodie on, gripped up, mask black."
Runnin' through bodies like Mad Max
Hoodie on, gripped up, mask black
I keep it on me, get your ass back
The n***as I roll with is not nice
Hit a n***a in front of his mom, I swear
Forty-two n***s gon' knock him down
