It's been a pretty busy year for DJ Premier. The legendary producer teamed up with Royce Da 5'9" for the second installment of their PRhyme collaborative project. The two of them have been pushing that since it's release and are gearing up to hit the road on a little mini tour which starts tomorrow in Philly. However, before Premier hits the road, he delivers a new remix of J. Cole's "1985."
DJ Premier comes through with a fresh remix of one of the most talked about song's of the year. The producer's adds his signature boom bap sound to the track and brings it a whole new vibe to it. Premier explained that he bought J. Cole's K.O.D when it dropped and "1985" was the song that resonated with him.
"1985" resonated with me immediately so I asked Cole if I could get the Acapella and do an underground DJ version just for fun." He wrote in the description, "He sent it and I just pieced some stab samples to keep it on some boom bap shit."
In addition to remixing Cole's "1985," Drake recently hinted a possible collaboration with Premier on his forthcoming album, Scorpion. He's yet to confirm it but we're always excited to hear what Premier brings to the table, especially with younger generation of hip hop.
