There's no doubt that Drake won 2019, but it's not surprising since he essentially won every other year as well. Off the bat, Drake began his campaign with "God's Plan" -- the lead single off of his chart-topping, multi-platinum album, Scorpion. Nielsen Music's tracking year came to an end on Jan. 3rd which further confirmed Drake as the biggest artist of 2018.

Drake had the most song and album streams in 2018. Billboard reports that rapper had the most popular album of the year with Scorpion. The album earned 3.905M equivalent album within the year with 330K of those units deriving from pure album sales. The rapper's project was driven by its high streaming activity. "God's Plan" also earned the honor of being the most streamed song in 2018 -- with combined numbers from audio and video streams. The track garnered 1.56B streams throughout the course of the year. However, it did come in second to Ed Sheeran's "Perfect" for top-selling digital songs of the year.

Following Drake's Scorpion for top 10 albums of the year is Post Malone's beerbongs & bentleys with 3,251,000 units sold. Post Malone also came in second to Drake for most on-demand streams for a song with "Psycho" ft. Ty Dolla $ign which received 594,516,000 streams in 2018.
