Hoodrich Pablo Juan's Designer Drugz 3 continues a prolific streak for the Atlanta rapper. Released Friday, it's Pablo's first project since inking a deal with Gucci Mane's 1017 Eskimo, and, perhaps as a result, has the most high-profile collabs we've seen on a HPJ project up to this point. "Check," a track with Playboi Carti, is one of the most memorable records. Putting Carti on the hook, the "Magnolia" rapper contrasts Pablo's deep-throated precision with his loose, nasally delivery. Pair that with dissonant, seasick synths from Myth Syzer & Ikaz Boi, and you have a very dynamic potential single.
The project finds Pablo working with a number of big names in the ATlanta production scene. Zaytoven, Cassius Jay, DJ Spinz, Metro Boomin, Honourable C.N.O.T.E., and Metro Boomin all contribute, as does Danny Wolf, Pablo's most reliable collaborator. In May, Pablo and Danny teamed up for a full-length project called HoodWolf. You can stream and download the project here. In August, HPJ dropped his South Dark EP, where he worked with producer Kenny Beats.
The 28-year-old rapper recently spoke to XXL about the development he's gone through up until this project. “When I first started rapping, there were records that were gonna get attention," he said. "When it comes to the album, it’s like smoothing it down a little more. You got to these folks, now you gotta show ’em different vibes. I tried to make DD3 an album for everybody. I’m not just trying to get the hood. It’s really just trying to get more people woken up to what’s going on."

I just need a check
I just copped a Vette
I got me some head
I got many bitches get on my neck
Like I need some head
But you better watch your mouth
Better hold your lip
Oh shit, that's some real shit
