This weekend, TOBi dropped off his STILL debut studio album, offering up a vulnerable and nuanced look at his personal experiences, translating them into evergreen tales for all listeners
Thirteen tracks total, the project finds TOBi tackling his subject matter solo on all but the very last track in which the Nigerian-Canadian singer and emcee calls on sister duo VanJess for the assist on "Come Back Home." The track leans into the more folk-inspired influences of the project, anchored by guitar chords and airy vocals and signaling yet another contribution of TOBi and VanJess to the ever-changing landscape of R&B and Soul music
"I want to usher in -- not that this has been unexplored before -- but continuing to explore honesty, vulnerability, processing emotions like healthy masculinity," TOBi tells Billboard. "Also shed light on important social issues and bring people together. Bring people of all creeds, of all walks of life together. Absolutely."
You've done some things that require forgiveness
You made mistakes, well shit, who hasn't?
You got to learn, for goodness sakes
To send yourself the love you've given out
